Nasty rash after vaccination - should I take him to the docs or is it normal?

I insisted that ds (4) have his MMR booster and his other vaccinations on different days. He was fine with the MMR booster and so on Thursday he got his Hib booster, Polio, Menc and tetanus.

Yesterday his arm came up in a rash just where he had been vaccinated. Tonight it is red and bumpy and clearly irritating him. He also complains that his arm is sore and he seems a bit out of sorts.

Should I take him to the GPs or is this normal?

normal IMO. My dd's arm was very red and swollen after her mmr booster

I would have expected it after the MMR booster, but not the Hib booster. It just looks so sore and lumpy and bloody itchy!

DD had a pin prick red rash after her 2nd lot of jabs (12 weeks is it?). She was also really fretful. All of the others she has been fine with. The rash went in a day or two and the GP was not worried just told me to keep an eye on her temp etc and give Calpol.

Ds2 (5) had his last Monday and his arm came up really red about the size of my fist. He also complained about it hurting.

I gave him some piriton and that seemed to ease things. He says his arm feels much better now.

If you are at all worried ring the nurse and ask for their advice.

From what I've read it seems to be 'normal'.

Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you! I'll keep my eye on him, I do have piriton for my hayfever so I might try that and perhaps get him some camillisan cream tomorrow for the itching.
