Worried about swollen lymph nodes in armpit

Hi all! I’m looking for some reassurance I guess. I felt a lump in my breast recently and on Monday I went to have it checked out and got a breast ultrasound. I’m 29F and nothing seemed out of the ordinary according to my doctor, but he mentioned the lymph nodes in my armpit were thickened. He didn’t order any further tests and said there wasn’t anything to worry about but I don’t see how that’s possible? I have awful health anxiety so I’m just spiralling right now. I’m not sick and no infections or recent vaccinations could’ve caused it. :/ Now there’s no follow up and I’m losing sleep over it.

You've got the ultrasound results already from Monday?

Did it scan the armpit area?

Yeah they scanned the armpit and the breast and didn’t find anything but noticed the armpit nodes were thickened, so now I’m just worried

I’ve also found a lump in my breast (waiting for breast clinic appointment to come through) and also feel like my lymph nodes are swollen.

I was panicking but have read today that swollen lymph glands can be a side effect of a breast abscess (as can feeling a bit fluey/achy which I also feel).

So maybe this is what he thinks you have? Though I’m surprised he didn’t say that to you if so.

It does sound like it could be though (from my googling … disclaimer, very much not a doctor) - I hope so, for both of us, fingers crossed he’s right and yours is nothing to worry about.

He basically asked if I had been vaccinated or been sick lately but I have not. I’m not sure how long the lumps been there though. I do have lumpy breasts (apparently common when you get a breast reduction). But yeah going down a rabbit hole and can’t possibly think of any other causes but cancer lol

I often get glands in my arm pits, they can stay up for quite a while, I've been the GP who wasn't worried. It's happened to me for as long as I can remember.

Hi, OP - I understand your anxiety. I will never forget the 10 days between getting the letter referring me to breast clinic following screening and the appointment. All was well.

I have lumpy armpits, have for as long as I can remember. I asked the consultant about this and she just said that some people do.

If this is affecting your life, it might be good to get your GP to examine you. Many things can cause lumps in the armpit. Only a few are serious.

How are you now op? Same thing just happened to me at my ultrasound.
