Help DS had one thing after another since starting nursery

I need some moral support and reassurance that this is going to get better! My DS is 10 months old and has just started nursery full time (been going two weeks) he has already had the most terrible cold which left him with fevers of 39 degrees C, he is getting over that and now seems to have D and V! I ahve only been back at work as a teacher for a week and now I am going to have to stay home to look after him on monday because he can't go to nursery for 48 hours after last D and v and my DH is off to germany on business on monday!

Just feeling really sad and low about all of this, makes me feel bad for going back to work and putting DS through this, plus feel bad because it is not ideal me having to take time off work when I have only just gone back!

Aggghhhhh

sorry if this is out of line but could you afford to go part time?
at that age my ds was wiped out after just one day of nursery

maybe a vitamin tonic might help, you could ask pharmacist?

DS exactly the same, have been back 6 weeks and he's had conjunctivitis, cold, stomach bug, another cold, now bad chest. I kept him off for 2 weeks, then he picked something else up immediately when he went back. Everybody keeps telling me, oh it's best he gets it all now, get it out of the way - not when he's coughing constantly and doesn't understand why!

My ds started nursery back in Sept, we have had chest infections and colds then a spell of nothing, a 5 day stint of d and v two weeks ago and a week clear this week.... last night he woke and hey ho we have d and v again!!!! I went through it all with my DD who is now 5 an dit all stopped around 2 and a half/ 3 and whereby all her class mates are now coming down with allsorts she is as strong as an ox and isnt even catching the nasties of her brother unlike myself !

You do seem to go through spells of illness but i know plenty of peoplle who dont work and there little ones still get the nasties from older siblings or visitors so try not to beat yourself up about it. When my ds is miserable at home with a bit of a cold (permisable to attend nursery) he perks right up at nursery and being busy keeps him happy rather than clinging to me like a limpet.

Jen, my dd was like this when she started nursery at 7 mo and I was fed up and felt really low and wiped out - she also passed lots of things onto me! i felt i was always off work for either her or me and why bother?

I can only say that it does get better; she has only been off nursery twice since september, she's now 18mo.
good luck.
