I think it's an ovarian cyst, but could it be anything else, more serious?

Grumbly lower abdominal pains for the last couple of days.

Horrible shooting pain when I ovulated a week ago - actually, gripey pain since then, really, but getting worse.

Have had PCOS (guess I still do) and had a burst ovarian cyst before I had DS1.

I'm gonna have to go to the doctor, right?

Come and say kind things to me. It hurts

Go to the doctor.

It could be just a random summat.

Ooh a few weeks back I had horrible ovulation pain, random pain for about 12 days after then it all stopped. We think it was some gastro bug without the d&v. Chocolateteapot's DH had it too.

(Oh tis Flame btw)

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 18:26

Thank you, Flame. It's really uncomfortable - am fed up with having "wimmins problems"

Do go to doc. But I think cysts can come and go so it might not need any serious intervention.

I had an ovarian cyst in fact the whole overy removed when I was nine

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 18:32

Oh, Threadworm! You poor thing!

I had a cyst burst once, as I say - I thought I was dying It was very sore though. Spent two nights in hospital - not sure why, really, thinking about it now. They wanted me to stay longer. Again, not sure why!

A burst cyst sounds awful. I thought they were potentially really serious, with risk of sceptacemia(sp) etc. Did you lose the ovary?

Think my childhood illness was worse for my parents than me. They must have been frantic, and then worried about my fertility. But I was sheilded. Was pretty painful though. Docs thought it was appendicitis and I'm still not sure whether they removed my appendix before cottoning on.

Are you in a lot of pain or will you be able to hold on thi monday to see GP?

FloraPosteschild · 01/03/2008 18:37

Oh you poor lamb
I don't think you need to worry about it being anything more sisnister as OC does not hurt.
So the pain wouldn't indicate that.
Hope it is nowt to fret aboot.

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 18:38

No, didn't lose the ovary, thankfully. I guess there's a risk of peritonitis because of mucky stuff going into clean area.

Yes, your parents must've been frantic - I guess good job you were that age, in many ways, rather than old enough to understand the full potential ramifications.

(I didn't mean your current condition was dangerous, only that the burst cyst must have been awful)

Threadworm · 01/03/2008 18:39

Funnily enough i never worried about my fertility with one ovary. I just assumed I would drop babies like a rabbit.

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 18:51

I like a good fret, it has to be said.

I think it's another cyst, tbh. It's sore, but not unbearably so. If it bursts, I'll know about it! Will see how it goes and go to doc if it's no better.

saralou · 01/03/2008 21:26

poor you

is the pain more to one side in particular?

worth seeing the gp on monday if it doesn't get better, particularly if the pain reminds you of your previous cyst!

(and OC does cause pain, not to freek you out PrincessHunker, just had to correct it)

Miaou · 01/03/2008 21:33

OH hunk, poor you - sounds just like what my friend is having atm (she is being sent for a scan)

Do go to the doc, don't leave it until you are totally fed up - get yourself in the loop

PrincessHunker · 01/03/2008 22:03

Pain kind of at the bottom of my abdomen, possibly more left-sided than right (it's not appendicitis, unless I was born with two - my appendix and I parted company when I was 15!).

Miaou, you're right, if it's not easier tomorrow, I will go and see the doctor on Monday. These things take ages to refer, etc, don't they?

Miaou · 01/03/2008 22:12

Exactly hunker - if it's a problem, it's not going to go away. Gerronwivit

And lol about appendix, that's how I feel - there's something I will never have to go through again

Threadworm · 01/03/2008 22:25

Mine was 'the size of a grapefruit'
