How long should antibiotics take to work for a dental issue?

I started antibiotics on Tuesday for a bad dental pain. They said long term it needs to come out but to see if the antibiotics help with the pain for now.

I would say the pain is 60% better, but still quite considerable at times. Is this normal or should I be calling them back so you think? I have 3 or 4 tablets left.

I would finish the antibiotics but book another dental appointment. Antibiotics (both amoxicillin and another other horrible one) didn't work for mine and it had to be extracted. Also, depends on the severity of the infection as to whether antibiotics are actually needed. I've had NHS dentists prescribe antibiotics when they're not needed but my new private dentist has said they're actually only needed for severe infections and it's bad practice to give them out otherwise due to antibiotic resistance.
