Bloody PMT (grumble grumble)

I have nothing interesting to say about it. Just wanted to grumble. I've had two years off, and now I'm back to the rollercoaster. I don't like it. I've eaten soooo much chocolate in the last 48h, but I don't feel any the better for it - surprise surprise. Grumble grumble grumble.

I've got it right now. I've just refused a lunchtime visit to the pub with colleagues BECAUSE I'M JUST NOT IN THE MOOD, OK? Now I'm sitting here feeling a bit foolish about it with a Cadbury's Double Decker. Which will not really help.

Sympathies.

nickytwotimes · 29/02/2008 13:09

Yes, it sucks!

purpleturtle · 29/02/2008 13:10

With you.

Went to chat with the GP about it the other day, and she seemed quite keen on prescribing Prozac for the critical 7-10 days, then you don't take it the rest of the month. Not sure I want to go there, so am giving the old B vits a whirl.

purpleturtle · 29/02/2008 13:11

Vitamins, and Snickers, obviously.

MorocconOil · 29/02/2008 13:12

I'm behaving like a nasty witch, and have spent the last 3 days making trays of flapjack to scoff!

purpleturtle · 29/02/2008 13:13

I don't have the energy to make stuff.

PrettyCandles · 29/02/2008 13:17

I made a chocolate pie last night, and dh asked "How come you baked?" ie is there an occasion that he's missed. Yeah, he's missed the point that for the last year or more I always bake when I'm feeling sh*tty. Maybe I'll just beat him over the head with a bar of chocolate wrapped in pastry to get the point home.

Prozac for one week? WTF?! I thought it took a couple of weeks at least for the stuff to build up and take effect. God, I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole! Mega-doses of Bvits worked well for me pre-children, but I'm still breastfeeding so don't know whether it would be a good idea right now.

Yeah I'm feeling really tired too. Do you find it hard to sleep at night when you have PMT? I tend to wake and not get back to sleep. It means I'm tired and irritable as soon as I get up

MorocconOil · 29/02/2008 13:20

Chocolate Pie must be better for you than Prozac.

purpleturtle · 29/02/2008 16:10

Actually, mimizan, I hadn't thought about the sleeping, but I took ages and ages to get to sleep last night. I go a bit kind of manic feeling and my mind races so I can't get to sleep. Oh the joys!

TimeForMe · 29/02/2008 16:12

Have a look at the supplement 5HTP. I've just reordered a load!

Botbot · 29/02/2008 20:10

Oooh, I know that 'manic feeling'. And about two hours after AF arrives it just slowly ebbs away - it's like I can literally feel my hormones stabilising.

Am still manic today though. BAH.

MorocconOil · 01/03/2008 17:56

I've have had that manic feeling for 6 days now, and I'm willing AF to arrive before my family desert me!

PrettyCandles · 01/03/2008 21:12

Y'know, when I lived at home with my parents my PMT was always worse on weekends, yet now I'm a SAHM it's better on weekends.

I'm dreading Monday!

The choclate pie lasted less than 24h. I allowed the rest of the family to have a slice each. A small slice.

I doubt I'll make another - with dh here I don't feel quite bad enough to bake!
