Om Monday of this week (4 days ago) I had a mole check after being referred by the GP.

I was seen at a small, local hospital by a nurse (I assume it was a nurse but it could have been a HCA) who just filled in some forms and then used a mobile phone to take some photos of the mole, followed by more photos with the use of a magnifying glass type of device.

These images were then emailed over to a Dermatologist to look at and this type of diagnostic procedure is the ‘done thing’ these days to improve waiting lists.

Anyway, the woman who was dealing with me said the main hospital would contact me in 2 weeks.

Yet today, just 4 days later, I’m sitting here with a letter in my hand asking me to attend a Dermatology Appointment in their clinic in 11 days.

I am now absolutely terrified that I’ve got skin cancer.

Has anyone else been in this kind of situation??

Thank you. Dermatologist looked at it - called a colleague to look at it and they decided they weren't even worried enough to biopsy.

Been told to keep and eye on it and return to GP if it grows.

What a relief. I'm due some 'plain sailing' at the moment, so thank you Universe!

I just wanted to come and give an update to say that my appointment with the Dermatologist earlier this week went fine and he wasn’t concerned at all.

He said that the lesion was a: (very long complicated name that I can’t remember) and that although I would have it for life it wasn’t anything to worry about.

I then asked him to look at another mole I have on my body, which is much larger and very brown in colour and slightly raised in the centre, and he used his little microscope device and said that mole was completely normal too and not something that is ever likely to cause any concerns.

So I’m feeling much more relieved.

Thank you to everyone for your reassurances

Dermatofibroma? That's good news. Thanks for coming back to let us know.
