Skin cancer ? With image

Hey

My dad, mid 80s, has had this patch on his face for a few months. He insisted it was nothing. I have finally managed to get him to go to the GP.
I'm quite concerned about it as it's not healed. He just thinks it's a scab.... any ideas?

My FIL has a few patches just like this, his doctor keeps a close eye on them and sends him for regular testing or removal. So far all have been innocuous.

Any update?
