Yes they normally are poisonous am afraid. best to get in touch with NHS direct for advice asap!!

THEnorthstar · 14/12/2004 17:51

My grandma always said that they are not poisonous. Apparently the birds LOVE holly berries and they don't eat the poisonous ones. Please get more advice, but hope that's a start.

Thanks, i thought they were but wasn't sure. Will tell her to ring NHS direct.

I've bought a little tiny holly plant in xmas pot from M&S - says holly berries are harmful if eaten. (bit of a joke on their part really as they've just wired on a couple of fake ones!)

OMG!! poor little thing!!

THankgoodnes, she hasn't got to take him.

They have given her some signs to look out for and if she spots any then she is to take him staright to hospital.

I think it is doubtful that he swallowed any as they must taste horrid.

Thanks for the help

According to DH (tree person) they are not horrendously toxic but would probably give you tummy ache. Hope all is well
