Abnormal smear result and pregnancy

Is it wise to try to have another baby as soon as possible as I've had an abnormal smear result and have to be retested in 6 months but they say treatment may be made difficult by pregnancy?!

I think you know the answer to that one, but its your choice I guess.hope it all works out

depends what the result is - if borderline/CIN1 may be ok - have a chat with GP or ask to be referred to gynae.
sorry thats prob not helpful - but there are different types of abnormal smears, and CIN1 is very differnt to CIN3.

Thank you - yes it's borderline and letters stress it'll probably sort itself out but worried I'm getting on a bit and shouldn't delay having another baby and they have to test you every six months after abnormal smear - thanks for the responses.

just wanted to say that last year i was in the same position as you, in a hurry to conceive no 2, but had just got a borderline smear.
I fell pg the following month, and stressed throughout my whole pregnnacy, thinking something would happen to me, and then who would look after my first little child?
But I had all the doctors reassuring me that nothing could progress that quickly, plus a lot of mumsnetters also put my mind at ease.
As soon as my second child was 6 weeks old I had another smear done privately and found out it was borderline again, which it would be so soon after pg.

I dont know what to advise, knowing the fear. But can only say that given that its a borderline, its unlikely to progress to anything sinister in the space of a year.

good luck

I have just been treated for severe dyskariosis after a borderline smear six months ago. I have also had borderline smears that returned to normal six months later. I think it is very unusual though, to progress this quickly. You will probably be fine.

Thanks again for responses - have now been told by nurse that I can have next test done while pregnant if necessary which I didn't know - Vannah I really feel for you being so worried during your pregnancy. Think I must just go for it as don't want to keep delaying by six months especially as no guarantees of immediate conception! Thanks again and best wishes to all.
