Hey All,

First post so sorry for the ramble but I was taken in to hospital A&E a few weeks ago for something unrelated and one of the doctors notice a lump on my neck, sent me down to ENT who said it was a possibility there was an issue with my thyroid and submitted a 2 week referral to see a specialist for possibly of cancer. I know the odds of it being cancer are quite unlikely but still super anxious 😬 was told 2 week referral but had to wait 4 weeks so the long wait has made it even more stressful. Anyway my appointment is finally in 4 days time, what I wanted to know so I armed with knowledge is what can I expect from the appointment with the specialist, will they just discuss the history of my symptoms and a look at the lump or will they also do the ultrasound sound at the same appointment so at least I have some answers. When I went to see the ENT doctor in A&E he also said he had booked my ultrasound in and I would receive a letter for this nothing has arrived as of yet so now I am very confused. I would be so upset if after having to wait 4 weeks for the referral I have to wait again for an appointment for the ultrasound, going out of my mind. Also are there anyone question anyone would recommend I should ask the specialist at my initial appointment. If anyone is happy to share there experience of their first appointment after the referral to help me to know what to expect I would be very great and thank you for your support ❤️

I'm so sorry you're going through this.
The endless waiting for tests and results and appointments is terrifying.
I would imagine that the ultrasound would be booked for a different day to the initial consultation.
I don't have experience with a lump on the neck but I went through 8 and a half months of breast cancer treatment in 2018, after a shock find on my first routine mammogram.
I would definitely recommend taking someone with you for the initial consultation, as you will probably be so anxious and nervous that it will be difficult to process and remember all of the information given.
I Hooe it goes well for you x
