Seeing a doctor again about having another baby..what do I ask?

Hi
I have 3 dds.
Two were conceived in my early twenties and I had no problem getting pregnant, in fact neither were planned. I am no longer with their father and I have been with my DP for nearly 12 years...he is the father of my dd3.
I had 4 mcs (all between 7/9 weeks of pregnancy altough one was a missed mc found at 12 wk scan) before having dd3. We have been trying to have another since she was born but only had two more mcs (both at same stage). My dp andI have had blood tests to check for chromosomal problems and lupus etc but no reason for mcs were found. Thelastmc was 10 months ago...
A little while ago I passed what I think was a fibroid during my normal heavy period(about the size of a 10p but roundish) although I have never been told I had any...
My Dp are now concerned that we will never have another baby and I am 37 and time is running out.
What do I ask the doctor? Should dp have a sperm test for instance? Any help gratefully h]received...[blusj

You should both go and see your GP he will organise tests - bloods for you and sperm sample for DP and referral .

we were referred to a specialist after our first 4 mcs (which is whn DP and i had blood tests all showed normal) but then we miraculously had dd3 so they dropped us from any further appts. They said we had nothing wrong with us.
But I think we should have a bit more advice than this surely?

i dont really have much experience in this field other than having 3 miscarriages.....the only thing that i can say to is is be determined to come out with what you went in for....tell him your concerns and ask for some further investigations.....i know it must be frustrating, it took me 16 months after dd to concieve then i had a missed mc...then a further 8 months after that....so dont be too worried

i think they will probably check your thyroid function, but if it is not on list, ask them to test: low thyroid function can lead to recurrent miscarriage (and also to heavy periods!).

Hi

I would post this on the conception page and also look through their old posts as fertility/infertility comes up a lot.

Apols if you already have done.

Best of luck in the future.
