Blood blister on dd's thumb: keep her off in case it bursts??

My dd was pushed over outside her playgroup today and very oddly her thumb quickly swelled uo into a huge blood blister. Pharmacist says it will settle in a few days but t'internet says about 3 weeks. What if she catches it though? it is huge! like a thumb on a thumb!! should i keep her off mum and toddler tomorrow or just let her go? i am dreading it bursting. Also how do I fight temptation to march up to the ignorant parent who watched his son do it and didnt even apologise on his behalf and scream 'Look what he has done to my little girl you animal!!'
