Hi, my son had his MMR jab on 1st Dec and a few days after we noticed he had a small lump in his groin area on the same side as where the jab was given. Saw GP on 8th Dec who said it was a result of the jab and that it would go down but it's still there. Has anyone elses son had this side effect and how long was it before it went??

sorry, no advice, just thought I'd bump this up for you...

Hi have seen this before, its to do with your sons immune response what you can probably feel is a swollen gland . I'm guessing he had his MMR in his leg and the lump is on the same side? Its similer to if you have a sore throat or earache and you get swollen glands near to the infection. It just shows his body is mounting a response to the vaccine.!! Hope this helps !!Smile

Thanks for your messages, saw a different GP this morning and she thought it wasn't to do with jab, just a coincidence. She said it was just an enlarged lymph gland and that it may take a while to go down but she didn't think it was serious and to take him back if it was still there at beginning of Jan.

my dd had her mmr today and they mentionned this to me... said she may get swollen neck, armpit and groin glands... said it was the mumps part of the vaccine kicking in and nought to worry about. glad they told me as have never heard of this before.

Hi it's 19 days today since my baby had his first mmr jab he's 12 months old and as I've got him out the bath to dress him I've noticed a lump in his right groin area , the same side to which he had his 2 injections! I'm worried? Can anyone help and advise please what I need to do? X

Hi there, did this ever go away. My daughter got her MMR on August 1st, now 15 days later she has a very similar lump. The GP had us schedule a Pediatric Urologist and said it could be a hernia that needs surgery. I am very scared. Her lump looks like this I am wondering how it worked out for you...

steam007 · 21/03/2017 09:37

@Donnagarrity1974, @Elliesmama: my son developed similar looking lumps (3) around the same groin area after his vaccination last week. Any feedback from your side shall really be helpful. We went to our doc this morning and he said it is due to the vaccination and will go away after a few weeks. I just saw your post and thought of asking about your experience as well. Thanks

Hi there just wondering if anyone had any answers on these previous posts. My son has the same lump, after having his 1yr vaccinations. Thank you

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any updates on this post as my daughter had her 1 year injections last Monday and she’s got the same lump now. Thank you xx

Caparn · 01/09/2021 14:57

My son has exactly the same, my son has one on his right side and he has 2 on the left side of his groin. Doctors said it’s swollen lynth glands, may be from the vaccine and being poorly from them.

JMarci2012 · 08/09/2021 17:13

Hi, thanks for replying. How long have they been swollen for? My daughter’s have been swollen for 6 weeks now xx

Nelly1111 · 18/08/2022 04:27

Did you ever find out what this was? My dd has the same thing 2.5 weeks post jab.

Buttercup129 · 16/01/2023 20:21

Did anyone ever find out? How are your babies doing now? Have the swollen lymph nodes resolved? I'm facing the same issue. My daughter had her MMR vaccine 7 days ago and suddenly I have noticed a lumpy part in her right groin area.

Yocelin · 06/05/2023 15:37

Hello my daughter is 2 years old and I noticed this lump ever since she was a baby
i took her to her providers and they made me get blood work done. They said something about only having could potentially be cancer so I took her to get blood work done to see if anything came out luckily everything came back negative. Now I’m waiting to get her an ultrasound we will see how that that goes . Has anyone gotten this resolved ?

JMarci2012 · 06/05/2023 21:32

Hi, my daughter had blood tests done and saw the consultant and was given the all clear. Her lymph nodes are still slightly bigger in her groin but she is absolutely fine in herself nearly 2 years later. 😊

Ruchi1 · 14/08/2023 21:37

Has it gone down any?? Is it still palpable?

Lucejc · 20/08/2023 08:26

My daughter has the same..GP says down to the one year vaccines. So worried. Identical to the pic further up on the thread

MamaMelissa · 06/11/2023 02:27

My 15 month old baby got her first dose of the MMR 2 weeks ago and now 1.5 weeks later and she has a massive lump in her groin on the same side.

It could be a swollen lymph node, but it has me worried and needing to get to the doctor

it looks identical to the picture posted above. Here it is incase anyone missed it.

Hi. Yes my girl had the same. I was so worried. Took her to gp he advised it was a lymph node due to the vaccines. He said to take her back if it didn't disappear. It got smaller and then went. It did take a few weeks though.
