Have I been googling too much or could DD have scarlet fever?

DD was ill last Monday evening, high temperature but no other symptoms. Her temp stayed high for 2 days then went down. From Wednesday evening onwards she has a cough and a blocked nose. She seemed to be fine otherwise.

She went to an indoor playarea on Sat and ran around for an hour or so. Sun morning she was fine but by Sunday evening she was really tired.

I picked her up early from kindergarten and put her to bed for a sleep today. She is 5.10yo and does not normally sleep at lunchtime. She slept for 2 1/2 hours.

She is not coughing much but is quite subdued and looks tired and washed out.

I will keep her off kindergarten tomorrow and take her to the docs. One of my friends just told me that a child in kindergarten has scarlet fever.

After googling it (I know I shouldn't) I think that she might have some of the symptoms (rough feeling rash, the high temperature) but her tongue is not really red, just a bit pink and white. (pic on profile)

Am I just being a hypochondriac mum?

do you not think it's far more likely she's got a bug

OK if you are being hypochondriac then scarlet fever's main symptoms include a sore throat and headache, fever, vomiting and swollen neck glands. ... and so far you've only mentioned fever and cold symptoms so it sounds rather doubtful .. but treatment is antibiotics so go to the gp then

ds had scalet fever last year and looked cack

check her tongue - we went to gp and that was the first thing he did. ds had strawberry tongue - red and raised and -well- strawberry like

his cheeks were rosy and sore - then he got impetigo - ahhhh fun!

She did have a headache last week and high temp but none of the other symptoms. Today she seems to have the rough skin (like sandpaper) and a slightly red tongue. Just seems strange that it is all so spread out.

Actually, when I think back, she did complain about a sore tummy last week too but it was all so random. One day a headache and temp, the next day a sore tummy and was quite tired.

I will get both her and DS checked out tomorrow.
