Does anyone know what a red spot on your breast could be?

I shan't bother namechanging, tho tis a little embarrassing...
I have a spot on my left breast, to the left of the nipple, which doesn't hurt or itch, and has been there before - I had it about 4 months ago and it stayed a few weeks, did nothing interesting, and went away leaving a sort of raised scar I suppose - which may even have been there before, not sure.

(TMI warning!)
It has come back in exactly the same way. It looks a bit like a blister, flattish and round, the skin is red round the edge with a sort of paler little lump in the middle, under the skin - v strange.

I wouldn't know it was there unless I'd seen it. I am wondering if it might be like an external sign of lingering infection inside the breast - I had mastitis a few times a few years ago while feeding ds1.

I haven't had mastitis this time to my knowledge, but you know when you have maybe a tooth infection and it finds a channel to the surface, so perhaps you might get a little lump on your gum, etc etc

Just wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone, before I freak out and go to the doctor.

If there are no replies I shall retire from MN in complete shame

not sure, but would get it checked out.

might just be a blocked gland.

Hello. I had exactly this when I had mastitis. It took ages to fade, but before that it had the appearance of a big blister, as if I had had a large cigar stubbed out on me, iyswim!

It could be a blocked gland - I had one of these recently and it sounds similar. If you're concerned then see the GP , but don't start panicking yet!

Oh thank the lord, brilliant - Fircone I think I love you

I have been getting hot flushes all day when I think about it and have been googling breast cancer and all sorts.

Oh and Torty!

Instantly lifted the burden of worry.

Did you have it treated, if so how?

I went to the GP in a blind panic, and she said it didn't have any suspicious characteristics, and absolutely not to worry.

DO NOT GOOGLE. It is very bad for your health!!!! Why don't you go to the GP and just ask them to put your mind at rest. Mine went away in about 5-6 weeks, which felt a long time, but I think it started off being a bit infected as it was unbelieveably painful! But after a couple of days of AB cream the tenderness had gone, and it was just a raised red lump, like you say with a pale centre.

Thanks so much. Mine doesn't hurt at all but I think I have limited nerve endings in that breast anyway, it is the least favoured and almost a 'spare' to ds, I can't feel even when it has milk in, not like the other one.
Might inflict myself on GP after baby is well again, can't take him anywhere for a few days!
Thanks again.

it might just be a spot - sometimes they come out funny when they're on your breasts compared to your face or arm (or leg!). your GP will be able to tell you .
