Mystery - seizures and impaired speech

Wondered if anyone has any ideas as to what is happening with my friend.

Fit and healthy woman in late 30s. Had operation on foot and all seemed well. On return to her room post op she started having “seizures” whereby her whole body was shaking and lifting off the bed. Her back was arching and her head tipped back. This continued for over an hour. She was blue lighted to an NHS hospital where she continued to seize for a couple of more hours. They eventually petered out. Bloods all clear. No scans done. Discharged next morning with no follow up.

Over the next couple of days these fits only occurred when sleeping, not as severe as the first night but distressing to witness. She gets very hot and sweaty during these episodes. On the third day she has lost her speech in that her words are slurred and she is having trouble saying the correct words. Taken back to A&E where she eventually had a CT of her head. Stroke ruled out. No facial droop or loss of power in limbs. They have no idea what is causing these symptoms. She is being referred to speech therapy and discharged home.

Does anyone recognise these symptoms or have any idea what tests we should be pushing for next please? Thank you.
