Mirena coil - constant bleeding and bloated belly!!

I had the Mirena put in last October. It seemed fine until this month, only one period and no other major side effects. Suddenly this month, I have been bleeding lightly all month and now really heavy bleeding, combined with painful, swollen and bloated belly! It is my whole tummy which is swollen up and sore ie from just under lungs and I even feel a bit breathless because of it. I've never had this sort of problem before with periods. Is this a common problem with the Mirena, how long should I put up with this bleeding and aching before seeing GP?!

no it isn't a problem I've come across(in 6 years). Could it be something else ? go to gp.

Thanks - it's a bit better today. Perhaps you get a build up after a while without any periods? Feel a bit like I've been given a good kicking in the stomach!

I've had similar with my Mirena, although my stomach is not really painful, just bloated.

I also have some light bleeding most months and the headaches I used to get really badly, are also there faintly each month for 2-3 days.

I feel as though the effects of the Mirena hormones are wearing off/not as strong as they were although i'm not sure if this is possible.

I was thinking of going back to the clinic where I had it fitted and checking it out.
