Morning,

I’m at a loss as to what to do. About 6 months ago, I started with a very sore throat. It was on and off for months, so was referred to a specialist ENT. Had the camera up my nose and down my throat and they concluded the issues were primarily viral tonsillitis with a secondary cause of silent reflux.

I’ve never suffered with any reflux symptoms or digestive issues in my life, even through pregnancies. I’ve taken Gavison and am 4 weeks into 6 weeks on omeprazole, but the throat symptoms are getting more frequent and worse!

I don’t tick the usual risk factors for silent reflux as I’m a slim non-smoker and only drank alcohol occasionally. I’ve completely stopped drinking however. I’m in agony with my throat & I just don’t know what will help. If anyone can suggest next steps to try and sort this out, that would be amazing as my job involves lots of voice use and I can barely talk, swallow or eat. Miserable!

I am absolutely not a doctor and v much grasping at straws here but what happens if you take an antihistamine every day for a week? I get a terrible sore throat when I have an allergy attack. But sometimes it takes a few days for the antihistamines to build up to be a preventative treatment rather than treating an allergy attack.

Thank you for your reply- I’m considering going for allergy testing to rule out allergies.

I'm slim and suffered very badly with silent relux. Turned out I had a hiatis hernia and gastritis, both diagnosed via endodcopy. I manage this by not eating anything after 7.30 pm, unless we're eating out. Not overeating at all.
Taking gaviscon advance at bedtime, no other medication. I also use an iqoro, not cheap but definitely worked for me.

@Happydays321 I’m glad you you have found what works for you to manage your reflux.

I’ve never heard of the iqoro; I will look into it, thank you.
