Is my ramipril wearing off?

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year, and take ramipril at night. My morning readings are always lowish (110/81) but my evening ones are much higher (130/94) although they do come down slightly. Is this because the medication is wearing off, and the evening readings are done only slightly before the next dose is due?

The GP never told me how often to check at home after diagnosis - just that there would be an annual review. I get a bit obsessed and anxious (I hate even looking at the machine) and I think this is reflected in the numbers. If you have high blood pressure, how often do you measure, and what high numbers would make you contact the GP to query if the medication is working?

Thank you for any help!

Yes the Ramipril probably wears off by evening. I take Ramipril on an evening before bed, in the morning my blood pressure is normal/low like yours.

But then I take Bisprolol in the morning which also lowers blood pressure and that keeps it low until I take Ramipril again.

130/94 isn’t too bad though, if it was 120/80 that would be considered normal.

Thank you. It feels too high for being on 7.5mg of Ramipril, though, isn't it? Or is it still ok? I think I expect it to be low like the morning all the time.

I wonder if I should ask the GP if I should split the dose between morning and evening, perhaps?

what was your blood pressure before taking ramipril?

You should maybe try and get 5mg twice a day?

It wasn't particularly high - the 7 day average was something like 134/90, taking the lowest of three readings each time. The doctor said to treat it aggressively. 5mg didn't seem to make much difference though.

The average now is obviously lower overall, but the evening ones aren"t much different to pre diagnosis really 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Thank you for your advice.
