Back pain and feel like I'm being winded

Hi, I've just woken up and walked downstairs. My back is painful on the mid section, left hand side and it feels like it's winding me when the pain comes. I don't know how else to describe it!

For context, I'm 39 and I do have arthritis in my left hip and lower back. Occasionally, maybe twice a year, I get really bad back spasms where I can't walk properly for a few days. MRI and x-rays have just shown general wear and tear and the arthritis mentioned. The winded feeling is a new one though - it's literally taking my breath away! Any ideas or advice before I fill in the online triage for the doctors?

If this is different to your usual pain, and it is making you short of breath, then I would call 111. Occasionally a blood clot in the lung could cause pain like this, so best get it checked out. Hope you get sorted soon whatever it is x

It's eased off a bit as I've been to the toilet, so possibly thinking it's related to that?

I'm currently experiencing similar.
I'm sure mine is gut related as I also have a painful gurgling in my chest area.

Check your kidneys for an infection x

Or I was going to say trapped wind 😳🤣

I did wonder this myself! It's not something I usually get though.
