Woke up with pain in one leg

Just woke up and went downstairs and noticed going down my foot was sore to put weight on but thought ah just a bit of morning stiffness. Now I'm back in bed and I can't sleep because that whole leg hurts a lot. The pains in my hip and knee and foot. My calf feels a bit sore like after a cramp too (although my legs often feel crampy at night in hot weather)

Anyone got any ideas what's up? Seems odd that one leg is fine. I don't remember injuring it and I haven't done any exercise or anything unusual this week. Can something like arthritis come on this suddenly?! I'm 37.

Is the skin red at all?

I think you should probably ring 111 and they’ll take you through a check-list to (hopefully) rule out a DVT. If they can’t rule it out they may send you for a d-dimer blood test.

(Assuming you’re in the UK?)

Thanks both! I got to sleep in the end and my joints feel a bit better this morning! My calf looks totally normal just feels very tender, exactly like I've had a massive cramp. Maybe I did have a cramp and don't remember?! I am in the UK but we don't have 111 in Northern Ireland. If it gets red or hot I will ring the out of hours doctor Smile

I had this a couple of weeks ago. Horrible cramp in the night and the pain in my leg for a couple of days. Apparently if you get sudden cramp in can do some localised damage (something to do with the sudden onset). Anyway it just got better after a couple of days.

I now make sure I’m hydrated before bed!

@Whyjustwhy123 that's exactly how my legs feels only I didn't have the actual cramp! It just feels really tender like after a big cramp. I get them too and they're agony aren't they!

Seriously the worst pain. The one I had I could feel a hard lump.

I’ve also started taking magnesium in an attempt to prevent them.
