I know I am being a major baby and probably sound really pathetic but have to have a wisdom tooth out as it has a hole in......I am petrified that it is going to hurt and that he is going to not pull it out properly and some will be left in. I had teeth out as a general by gas and it was awful as I remember waking up with blood and a huge dish full of blood in front of me - I am embarrassed to be so scared as I have had 2 kids ffs...so can anyone make me feel better - I havent even made the appointment yet as I am so scared. Ok you can all call me a wimp now {

I had mine wisdoms done under sedation, I fell asleep and didn't know they had done it when I came to. You are not totaly knocked out just sleepy, and compliant so they get it all done in one go.

It will be ok - they rarely if ever use general anaesthetic now for tooth extractions, more likely you will be sedated with something valium-like, which is a very nice feeling

You are best off making an appointment to talk to the dentist about being scared and he/she will reassure you. I had a tooth out recently and was terrified beforehand- there was a bit of blood but not masses and it was sore but not horrendous - was fine within a week

I had my wisdom tooth out a couple of years ago as there was a whole in it. I was terrified but I can honestly say it was far far far less painfull than having a filling.
Give me a tooth extraction any day over a filling now.

Your not a wimp I was so scared everytime the dentist went near my mouth I started talking and asking questions!

Thank you for being so kind about this, I know I have to make the appointment, I did speak to the dentist and told him I was scared but he made me feel a bit silly to be scared, but its a fear I have had all my life, I will do it as I have no choice but its the thought - I am not scared of the needles or anything like that its just when they actually pull it out and will I feel it - when I had my last teeth out they used the old fashioned black mask with the sleeping gas which was a terrible smell and when I woke up there was blood everywhere and a large dish on me with blood in it - not a good memory for a 6 year old! Thanks again - its good for losing weight as I am continually on the loo when I think about it! What a wimp - how long does it take to get the tooth out - I have to book a half hour appointment and half of that is waiting for the anaesthetic to work so how long to take it out?
