I have tonsillitis, again. 3 time in six months. Doctor is getting antsy about antibiotics, bacterial vs viral. So he's done a load of blood tests, no throat swab.

Ive had the tests results back, and it occurs to me all the tests are remarkably similar to a year ago.....

What test would I be looking for to tell the difference between a viral and bacterial infection

Except serum crp that's way out of normal range compared to last year when it was in normal range

CRP can be indicative of infection but not exactly where. A throat swab would be more accurate.

Thank you. I wonder why he didn't do a throat swab
