15 week old not pood for 8 days

Hi all,

my 15 week old baby who is bf on the whole but has 1 bottle of formula at night hasn’t pood in 8 days :-(. I have a drs appt this afternoon but I wonder if anyone else had similar. I see for EBF babies it’s normal but I wondered if there were any combination feeders on here that had a similar issue.

I also don’t know if it has any connection to the fact he had his jabs last week!

any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! X

Is the baby gaining weight?

Mbob23 · 26/06/2023 13:06

Hi! Yes, is putting on weight. Will get him weighed again at the drs today too!

My son once went 11 days at around the same age..... The mess when it happened was epic...... 😳 But it can be quite normal, if baby is otherwise content then I wouldn't be too worried x

ah thank you @SparkleMonster! I have read that when it comes, it comes 🤣

My exclusively BF daughter only ever pooped once a week. I was told this was because breast milk’s so well digested that there was very little waste matter produced.

My DD once went about 10 days. She was exclusively BF.

When she did go I was expecting a full on poonami. It actually was just a normal poop. Nothing unusual about it at all.

Sometimes BF babies simply absorb all the nutrition.

As your baby also has some formula it's probably best to get them checked, just in case but I'm sure they are ok and just having a growth spurt and retaining all the food for that.

Thanks everyone!! Very reassuring. Will see what the drs say this afternoon. His formula is kendamil and I read that’s the best for constipation but may need to change it! Thanks again 😁

The gp prescribed me something for the but then he did a poo just before I went to collect it!

feeona123 · 26/06/2023 19:40

My daughter was the same and had 1 bottle a day. When she did go it was horrendous! Poop everywhere!!

Mbob23 · 26/06/2023 21:44

Thanks @feeona123! How long did you daughter go in the end? We’re at the end of another day with nothing! I can’t peddle his legs or massage his tummy anymore 😅

it will be Sod’s law I’m out the house when it does come!!

At this time of year if he's growing well you might be able to add in some cooled previously boiled water, just a little dehydration can cause crazy constipation. Gosh this is bringing back memories of DS2 and the never ending poo, started like a clay sample at an archaeological dig and ended in a poonami. Happy memories!
