He has been sneezing all day but it does not come out, does this mean A&E or do you please have a solution? he is 2.2 by the way!

It is those small white ones you buy to fill up a bean bag.

you probably need to go to a & e!

ds1 pushed bread up his nose last year... to get it out i had to cover his good nostril and then blow into his mouth (like doing the kiss of life) which worked... you could try that, but if it doesn't work you'll have to go!

good luck!

yes a+e, sorry
it can lead to nasty infection quite quickly

nasty for him

MissingMyHeels · 22/02/2008 18:29

A&E I think, my lil Sis got two raisins stuck up her nose and we have to take her to hospital to have them professionally tweezered out!

jicky · 22/02/2008 18:32

Do the blowing thing suggested by Saralou before the a & e trip as that the first thing they will make you try there anyway and you may be able to clear them yourself.

FrannyandZooey · 22/02/2008 18:33

I presumed one ball in each side! don't know why, the OP does not say so

don't blow in his nose if he has one in each nostril!

IdrisTheDragon · 22/02/2008 18:37

When DS did that with one raisin I took him to A and E and they got me to do the blowing thing. I would agree with Franny that if there is one in each nostril then don't try doing it.

(I posted a thread on Mumsnet about it which persuaded me to go to A&E ).

Thanks everyone, dh went out to buy a proper torch with working batteries, we managed to take a very good look, I can't see anything, the bits that looked like the balls were in fact I think adenoids. I will keep a close eye and make a decision tomorrow morning, he is not complaining, just sneezing ever so often. I have a cold at present so maybe he is coming down with that.

My reason for paranoia about the balls were that he pushed 3 up his nose yesterday, which I managed to get him to blow out himself, by closing one side.

I did not want to over react as my nearest A&E is 19 miles drive away, takes about 45 minutes if we're lucky. We fall in unlucky area where they want to close three more A&E's which would mean an even further drive!

oh no I don't blame you wanting to avoid a+e trip

keep a very close eye, any pain, or discharge, please go to a+e immediately

SlugsNSnails · 22/02/2008 19:43

I wa sin A&E a few weeks ago with a raisin MN gave me the blowing advice, but only after I had set off to get it tweezered out.

Good luck!

anything in the nose should be sorted by a&e, it could cause an obstruction in the airway, or they could swallow it. my son used to put peas up his nose
