Has anyone changed GP mid investigation to health problems?
Beginning of Jan I had very chesty cough and broke my rib from it (I knew it was broke because I felt the pop and recognised the pain from doing it few years back - also due to cough).
GP only do same day appointments. Have to call them at 8.30am to get appointment but they only release so many per day, after trying for a week receptionist told me that if I queue outside surgery before 8am they give tickets to get appointment that way. Once you get ticket they call you up to desk once it opens at 8.30 to see book appointment. Missed it 1st day as too many in que (already 30) - expalins why you can never get appointment over the phone.
Went back next day bit earlier and was given tel appointment. Explain that I thought had broken rib, told them I was taking 60mg Codeine, 800mg Ibuprofen and was told to add paracetamol to mix and there was nothing else they could do.
Following week my stomach was so bad from all tablets, called to try and get appointment as too ill to try and get to GP before 8. No luck so called 111. They asked me when I was examined. I explained that I had tel app. They told me that my GP had to see me and contacted them, GP called me in. Prescribed me Naproxen and Omeprazole for stomach, ordered xray and bloods.
I am now on my 5 lot of bloods, they said red cells too large, then did tests to find out why, advised low folate, prescribed folic acid, now high M something and rib still very painful. Healing plateaued (turns out it was displaced fracture) and I get a constant pulling or burning pain. Now being tested for low vit d and bone disease? Also due another xray next week
Thing is that every time I have a blood test/xray and get a text to book appointment I still have to try and get to the surgery before 7.40 to guarantee a place in ticket que, then wait until 8.30 to get called to get appointment. Then if GP wants more tests have to queue next day and start all over again.
Dh thought he had trapped nerve in neck due to tingling pins and needles in his arm and hand. Given print off of exercises. Finally had physio - 4 sessions and no improvement, got worst. Physio accused him of not doing exercises and advised he would write to GP and he probably need MRI. He has been trying to alleviate symptoms by going to therapist for cupping and acupuncture. Pins and needles down both arms and both legs, he struggles to walk properly and keeps dropping things because of his hand. He works 45 mins away so he can npt be at Drs in morning to get appointment. We have ordered home Diabetes test for him to rule out that.
Sorry I know this is really long - just trying to give best picture I can. If we changed GP would we have to start all over again with tests?
Is it even worth changing - is this just the way it is now?
