Hi, I’ve just realised I’ve got quite a widespread rash on my left and right buttocks!

not raised.

Only mildly itchy and it’s been there a while I think and I’ve been absentmindedly scratching me nethers now and again….. for
months!

I have psoriasis but it’s definitely not that

i don’t eat any wheat or sugar because of the above so unlikely to be dietary.

Any ideas?

Do you cycle/horse ride OP?

Whataretalkingabout · 20/06/2023 16:34

Folliculitis ? You would need an antibiotic ointment to clear it up.

I get something like this on my bum every summer, I think mine’s a heat rash

Aposterhasnoname · 20/06/2023 18:04

Mine was an allergy to the stuff used to clean the toilet seat

I was very lucky and managed to get a GP appointment 💪

apparently it’s a fungal infection. It’s also:
in my belly button
around my anus
what I thought was psoriasis on my back is….. yeast

i can’t believe it everywhere

does anybody know if anti fungal body washes to decolonise myself sharpish?

Do I need to boil my clothes?
(serious question )

You need to use ketoconazole shampoo, I was told to lather it on, leave for a few mins and then rinse off

What treatment have you been given?

teraculum29 · 20/06/2023 18:20

Reduce carbs in your diet temporarily, as what yeast thrives on.

pastabest · 20/06/2023 18:21

Look up dermatitis herpetiformis (DH). It's an autoimmune skin condition often misdiagnosed as a fungal infection.

It goes hand in hand with coeliac disease.

Have you ever been tested for coeliac disease?

Even if you have cut out wheat it could still be a DH reaction to other gluten such as barley and rye.

Topical stuff that also has steroids. I am leaving to collect them.

I will ask the pharmacist for that shampoo, thanks.

I don’t even consume sugars or carbs so it feels kind of cruel I’ve ended up with a yeast infection 🙄
