Is this infected? (Photo included)

Fully appreciate that I need to ask my GP, but would welcome the option of wise mumsnetters in the meantime. I had a minor op on leg / foot on Monday and this is one of the small wounds on my foot (about 0.5cm). It's had clear fluid coming out for a few days, but I'm struggling to work out if it's not healing or starting to become infected😒

Doesn’t look too red, keep an eye on it. Take another photo to compare in the morning. Keep it clean and dry until then

Littlemissprosecco · 18/06/2023 18:46

Maybe draw a ring around the redness now, see if it’s dread in the morning. It looks small, your immune system should cope with something of that size.
I assume you feel well. No fevers, temperature, shivers or general worsening of well-being?

Littlemissprosecco · 18/06/2023 18:47

Worse in the morning!!

WeAreTheHeroes · 18/06/2023 18:49

There's no swelling, etc but if you're concerned, draw round it and see if the red area grows.

PoppyBlunt · 18/06/2023 19:03

Thank you
Feel well, but mindful that this is the only one of 30 😒 that hasn't scabbed.
The red circle has increased since yesterday, but equally it looks like it has actually closed over a little bit since then so not sure!

I agree with keeping an eye on your temperate and taking photos. If concerned, I see a pharmacist firstly. When if your follow up appointment post opp?

CC4712 · 18/06/2023 19:06

Excuse typos!

PoppyBlunt · 18/06/2023 19:10

Follow up not for a few weeks 😬

You’re the only one who will truly know if it needs treatment. But at the moment, from the photos, it doesn’t look much worse than anything you’d pick up going the gardening etc… you’re absolutely right to be vigilant

stayathomegardener · 18/06/2023 20:47

Sorry, you have 30 of these? I'm probably misunderstanding.

PoppyBlunt · 19/06/2023 07:26

Yep, 30 in total across my leg and foot. Had lasers and then keyhole surgery to remove veins. This one is the only one which isn't healing nicely though.

How is it looking this morning?

PoppyBlunt · 19/06/2023 08:34

Looks like this today. I've emailed a photo to the clinic where I had the op to get their advice.

Littlemissprosecco · 19/06/2023 09:38

That’s sensible, it doesn’t look too worrying, but you’re comparing it to your others!

stayathomegardener · 19/06/2023 17:22

Oh ok, I understand. Doesn't look too bad currently, how about trying some colloidal silver spray or iodine ointment?

I really want to put something on it to help but the clinic have said not to and to dress it in the day and air overnight. Which seems at odds with what I've read about wound care, but will do as they say.
