Open haemorrhoidectomy recovery advice?

So I am scheduled for Open haemorrhoidectomy surgery on 11th august and my surgeon said I will be in agony for 6 weeks and have read horror stories online.

I went to the GP who did an internal and external exam and said there was no piles but my skin tag around my anus was irritated. I was then referred to a specialist surgeon who look externally for literally 2 seconds and didn’t bother to look any further. He then gave me the options of different treatment options. The only one that would get rid of the external skin tags as well as the internal problems was Open haemorrhoidectomy. My skin tag seems to have grown another skin tag on itself and it does seem to flare up and become really painful to touch.

I am worried about the recovery as I am due to move beginning of September and if I am in agony it’s not really ideal! Would love to hear your experiences and any advice.

I know this is an old post but did you go through with this? I'm scheduled in for 13th Feb.

I just had a similar but not exactly the same procedure. Day 1 post op today. It’s not been amazing so far!

Oh no, I hope you're not in too much pain. I'm still doom googling and wondering if I'm making the wrong decision 🫣
