Cyst on back of ear lobe

Lizzy9675 · 14/06/2023 14:40

I’ve had a lump behind the ear lobe for weeks it did shrink a little however, I squeezed it and it got bigger .
I just squeezed it again determined to get rid of the bugger , it’s popped but still loads of stuff inside .
I have patted it with salt water .

what do I do now ?
ps I know I’m a div for squeezing it but couldn’t help myself .

Can you squeeze anything else out?
Unfortunately it will likely refill if the sac wall isn't removed

Mumsnut · 14/06/2023 16:47

Post on Sporner Corner for a start!

Hot compress. Regular squeezing!

Lizzy9675 · 14/06/2023 17:38

@Mumsnut not much to see just a flesh coloured lump .
I did think some green gunk had fell on to my chest area however, this turned out to be a sliver of celery from my lunch .

@dementedpixie I will keep a close eye on it don’t want to squeeze too much to avoid infection.

Double check that before you eat it

KevinDeBrioche · 14/06/2023 17:53

Is it next to an ear piercing?

Mumsnut · 14/06/2023 18:10

If its next to your piercing it might be that. Joyously, sometimesy old hole fills with crud and needs a bit of a poke about. Only sometimes, not nearly often enough for a sporner like me!

GoodChat · 14/06/2023 18:28

Poke an earring through the piercing hole and then see if you can squeeze anything out through that

cocksstrideintheevening · 14/06/2023 18:32

Potassium permanganate paste. Have fun!

DiaryofWimpy · 14/06/2023 18:40

I have this. It just lies dormant for months then randomly fills up again. I squeeze it and it goes away again. I took myself to the Nurse with it but she just said "yes it's a harmless cyst"

Lizzy9675 · 14/06/2023 18:42

It’s starting to hurt but maybe cause I’m thinking about it .

Chersfrozenface · 14/06/2023 18:54

Try magnesium sulphate/sulfate paste - Boots sell it. It draws out the pus and dries up the cyst.

Mind you, if it gets red and hot, see a pharmacist for advice if you can't get a GP appointment. Inflammation is rarely a good thing.

drspouse · 14/06/2023 20:53

I get these, a hot flannel and pressure takes the edge off. They just go away by themselves.

Lizzy9675 · 15/06/2023 14:47

I just had another squeeze it burst again but I can now feel something rubbery pocking out of it.
im thinking it’s part of the sac ….wtf.

Exasperatednow · 15/06/2023 15:08

Get some sterilised tweezers and see if you can pull it out.

Lizzy9675 · 15/06/2023 16:24

@Exasperatednow 🙏 .I’ve done that but sadly only a little bit come away .
im going to put magnesium paste on it and keep squeezing every couple of hours to see if I can get more “stuff” out .
