subungual hyperkeratosis or fungus photos

Hiya,
name change as a bit embarrassing.

Do you think that my middle fingernail has subungual hyperkeratosis or is it a fungal infection?
it has this white substance underneath and is a bit painful if I try to remove it. It also is somehow dipped in the middle. Thanks for reading.

I am not a HCP but that looks like mine when I've cut too short and it's part of the nail bed protruding. Just looks like it's a bit flaky
