Can anyone look at my anaemia blood test?

I got this from Superdrug as I can’t get a gp appointment for a month and I’m so tired all the time. It seemed to start after having COVID but I wanted to rule out anaemia as I have awful periods. Does this all look fairly normal? I will be following up at the gp. Thanks.

Can you get your vitamin D and B12 checked? When I’m deficient with those I’m shattered.

CapitanSandy · 07/06/2023 18:55

I’d test your folate levels too

Thanks yes I’ll ask the gp or see if I can get them from Superdrug if still no appointments, thanks for the heads up.

Your ferritin is low. I know it says it's in the normal range but many women feel crap unless it's at the much higher end.

Given you have awful periods it's unsuprising.

Greybeardy · 07/06/2023 21:46

those are iron studies not 'anaemia' studies. They don't show whether you're anaemic.

I’m well aware of that. It’s the name Superdrug give the test so maybe take your pendantic comment to them.

Apologies - your original post said you wanted to ‘rule out anaemia’ and you can’t with these tests. Your ferritin’s towards the lower end of normal - that can cause symptoms but doesn’t always.

Gees OP- what a rude reply! I didn't read it as @Greybeardy being pedantic at all- just factual in terms of your results! I agree- its not a full screen for anaemia! What was your Hb level?

AcclimDD · 07/06/2023 23:02

You need a full blood count FBC not just iron studies, to rule out anaemia.
