SIBO or not SIBO that is the question

I have had digestive issues since Covid last summer. I felt awful for 3 or so months with:
intermittent diarrhoea
rumbling and grumbling of digestive system
nausea/lack of appetite
reflux
tiredness/pain
I had various tests and nothing was found physically although my calprotectin level was raised it subsequently went back down to normal (7).

Main symptoms now:
acid reflux (I’ve taken ppi on and off and now been taken off them as not effective and I’m using gaviscon advance)
smelly wind (some weeks worse than others)
excessive rumbling - can be v uncomfortable
diarrhoea - not that often but I’ll get a bout every 3 months or so for a few days not related to food.
possible slow motility as had endoscopy and had a lot of food in stomach even after fasting for 7 hours

I feel fine in myself now thankfully but been on acid watcher diet (more or less!) since Oct. Although I can’t eat too much fibre as it has a grim effect on the wind.

Has anyone had similar symptoms and it’s been SiBO after testing? Will my gastro laugh at me if I mention it? I have a repeat endoscopy in a couple of weeks.

Hi @JustDanceAddict how are you doing now? Did you get a SIBO test?

I have all of the same symptoms that you have described and have recently had a positive SIBO test. My gastroenterologist wanted me to retest using a different test and it came back negative so I’m not sure what is going on.

No, but ended up testing pot for h pylori and did the treatment. Things have improved since.
