Fungal Rash on legs

My DD has has problems with a fungal rash on the top of her leg for a year, back and too to the doctors.
It's really flared up at the moment with the heat, we have a new system at our doctors where everything goes past triage, I've sent pictures today and told her what creams have been prescribed before, I'm just getting told to go the chemist for hydrocortisone cream.
The chemist are telling me to go the doctors!
There are no physical appointments for ten days, so feeling like I'm going round in circles!
Has anyone treated an infection similar to this before? If so what did you find helped? She's so uncomfortable and sore.

Hi!

Absolutely useless reply here but I had the same in 2019. Back and forth for weeks to the chemist, doctors and walk in as it got bigger and more angry until I was finally prescribed some Steroid cream that cleared it up. Tried to find out what it was called but can’t find a record of it anywhere sorry!

@cj7689 thank you, im glad you are all sorted now. Hers just keeps flaring up every few weeks, so definitely needs something stronger, we have used Nizarol and daktarin upto now that's been prescribed.

Hi, DS had similar and Daktacort cream helped - it's a combination of Daktarin and Hydrocortisone.

@MESSING2 thanks, the nurse did say that in her text, but the chemist have said she needs to see a doctor.. so frustrating.

With persistence, I think Daktacort will work, but I understand that pharmacists won’t sell it for use on child or teen, which is probably why they are telling you to go the GP.

I used Daktacort on a fungal rash on my torso on the advice of my DSis (a GP). She told me not to waste a GP appointment, but to buy Daktacort over the counter at the pharmacy and say to the pharmacist that it was for infected athletes foot - this is because the pharmacist prob won’t make you unlace your trainers and take your socks off, but might ask to see a rash on leg etc. GP sis also said to use it slightly more often than the packet instructions.

MadeInChorley · 05/06/2023 19:48

If you say it’s for your infected athletes foot, you’ll probably get Daktacort over the counter from the pharmacist.

onebusymum · 05/06/2023 19:50

@MadeInChorley it's just frustrating we have to use a new messaging service and never get to talk to someone at the doctors.
If she had just started with it, it would be OK,but this has been going on for nearly a year, so really does need someone to take a look now.

Well when we can get an appointment!

@onebusymum It does sound like she needs seen and definitely try to get an appointment, but I’ll bet the GP will prescribe Daktacort as the next step in treatment. It’s very effective. Maybe worth trying in the meantime if you can get it.

onebusymum · 05/06/2023 20:16

@MadeInChorley I'll try again tomorrow!

A random one but do you have a leather sofa? My Dad had a similar rash that kept flaring up on his legs and it took a couple of years and back and forth to the GP, then eventually a specialist, who very quickly asked if they had bought a new leather sofa around the time it all started. He put a throw on the sofa and never had a problem again.

onebusymum · 05/06/2023 21:03

@Montgomerystubercles no we don't have a leather sofa.
Glad your Dad got to the bottom of his though.

If it's both legs it could be sensitivity to the dye in her clothes. I have this issue with some blue and indigo dyes.
