Big lump on the back of my head

I think it’s a swollen lymph node. It’s hard, marble sized, doesn’t move and is slightly painful. Only up on one side. I have a GP appointment on Wednesday. Anyone know any non scary reasons for it?

Almost certainly a lymph gland.

A cyst, I should think. That's what the Dermatologist said that mine is. Although mines on the top of my head.

Thepleasureofyourcompany · 05/06/2023 08:20

I had a cyst but it wasn't painful at all.

From Dr Google it seems to be an Occipital lymph node.

Just had DP have a feel at first he thought it was part of my skull (so hard and fixed) before realising it wasn’t. Fairly sure it’s a lymph node - but it being so big, hard and fixed are all bad signs aren’t they?

Where abouts on your head is it and how fast did it aooear?

*appear

It’s at the base of my skull just behind my right ear. I noticed the area was tender yesterday - no idea how long I have had it for. It being so hard, fixed and round is what’s really concerning me. They are all “red flags” for lymph nodes.

Hi, I had this the week before last, woke me up in the night due to pressure and discomfort. It disappeared after a few days. Didn’t go to GP but would have had it persisted. In all likelihood, enlarged lymph node.

Where it is deffo sounds like a lymph node. My adult son gets this every so often but it goes. Might be a virus, or ear or tooth trouble

Sorry to resurrect this but I have the same thing, been there a couple of weeks at least. Did you find out what it was @lolaboater ?
