I have joined a health club and am doing a very sensible exercise plan.
I would like to run so have a 10 min workout on the treadmill.
I walked 10 mins at 6.5km/hr every day for a couple of months. It was ages and ages before the
attention heart rate too high
sign stopped coming up.
Now i am trying to walk for 2 mis and run at 8.5km/hr for 1 min ect for 12 mins.
I haven`t exactly jumped in at the deep end i have been trying this about 5 times a week for 2 months now .
However my heart is all over the place.
Not only does it go up tp 180 most of the time but it seems to jump all over my chest sometimes and it frightens me a bit tbh.
I am otherwise fit and well and swim 100 lengths 5 nights a week so cant be that unfit !
Any suggestions please or does this often happen.
Cheers x

I don't generally run on a treadmill so have no idea about the alarm thingy. Does it mean you're at your maximum or does it mean you're over the 70% or whatever that your should be training within. They've never struck me as that accurate.

How has your max heart rate been decided, has someone at the gym done that for you or do you programme it in? Are you using 220 - age? The true figure can be easily affected by your resting heart rate and your underlying fitness. You should be exercising at 70 - to 80% of your max IIRC. I'd be more concerned about the 'jumping all over' business. Does it feel irregular or is it pounding and does it settle to resting quickly when you stop?

Maybe you should get a check up at the docs if you're worried.
