DH has just been diagnosed with LVH. Anyone with any experience of this?

He's only 40, and up until recently was fairly fit and healthy. No family history of cardiac problems. The LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy) was actually diagnosed by a chest x-ray that was done to ascertain why he keeps getting chest infections that last ages, so obviously the diagnosis has come as a bit of a shock!

Anyone with any experience of this, how its likely to impact on his/our lives etc? (incidentally, both DH and i are nurses so we do know the medical side of things, just not related to 'real life' IYSWIM)

Thanks.

Sorry to hear this stinky. What are they thinking has caused it?

dd has a combination of LV problems/dysfunction/overload the general upshot being that she just gets more tired.

What's the next step? More tests/meds?

At the minute we don't know, and we've both got so many questions whirling around in our heads. DH only found out the result today, and he's got to go to the GP tomorrow so should hopefully find out some more then. He's fully expecting further tests, and definitely meds - most likely ACE inhibitors and/or a beta blocker.

He already does the tired thing - he's permanantly knackered!

dd takes ACE inhibitors, Lisinopril now, others previously. They've made a huge difference to her but seem to cause her some problems sleeping - so even more knackered.

Hope you get a few answers tomorrow and don't have to wait too long for the tests.

hope the GP is able to shed you some more light tomorrow Stinky, really sorry to hear this, esp with your back problems too

I can't add anything useful SM, just couldn't read and run. Hope that you get some answers today xxx

I'm afraid this is something I have no idea about stinky, but wanted you to know that I am thinking about you all. I hope you get some answers soon. I think sometimes the unknown is harder to deal with than having some facts to go on.

How did he get on at the GP's SM?
