Breast Lump, Raised Lymph Nodes & Pregnant

Hello all,

I’m just looking for a bit of advice / reassurance where possible.

I’m in the 2WW system currently for what the doctor described as a smooth, painless, mobile (it feels mobile but tethered to me) lump in my left breast. She also felt raised lymph nodes under my arms which I had no idea were there (but said this could be due to previous infection or simply because I’m a bit bony - I’m really not, ha).

She said the breast lump is right along the lymph node line, so could be that. I don’t know if that’s better or worse, but I’m convinced it is worst case scenario.

Does anyone have any similar experiences? Has anyone had a raised chest/breast lymph node that felt like a lump? Or raised underarm nodes that were harmless?

I am terrified and as it says above, I’m in the early weeks of pregnancy, so could not be more worried right now.

Thanks for reading. X

OP,

How awful that this is happening during your pregnancy. I don’t have a similar experience but I have been called to hospital after a routine breast screening. I know the trepidation, so I did not want to read and run.
Statistics are on your side, as is the mobility.

Do you have your appointment yet?

There really are many causes of raised nodes. Both of my underarms are permanently a bit lumpy, FWIW.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. I have my appointment tomorrow afternoon, so am all kinds of scared and nervous right now.

Can you feel your lymph nodes under your arms? They’re definitely there and now I’m super aware of them which isn’t helpful at all. X

Best wishes for today. I can feel bumpy little balls under my arms. I think those must be lymph nodes?

JustNeedSomeCalm · 22/05/2023 11:20

Thank you :)

Yeah they’re the ones. Maybe it’s normal!

How did it go?

JustNeedSomeCalm · 22/05/2023 19:30

It’s tomorrow afternoon - think I replied originally after midnight saying tomorrow, so likely confused you! My fault.

Very nervous and just trying to stay calm!

I haven't had them in my arm pit but have had a lot of lumps in my breast that have all turned out to be cysts, they sound a lot like yours mobile but sort of teathered. My friend has had a lump in her arm pit on two occasions and they were both fine. Hopefully everything will be fine for you tomorrow, it usually is but it's hard not to worry.

RuthW · 22/05/2023 19:46

My dd had a breast lump. The doctor was worried because under her arm was very lumpy. She had a biopsy and it was a benign fibroadenoma.

WeddingDespair · 22/05/2023 22:17

Hi OP, I had an armpit lump in both pregnancies. It looked suspicious enough that I was referred both times, but everything was fine and it "resorbed" or something after pregnancy. So hopefully it's just one of those weird pregnancy things for you. The wait is the harder bit, you're almost there but it should all be OK.

Hi, I had what felt like a lump and very fibrous tissue in one breast at 7 weeks pregnant. I was so freaked out. The ultrasound showed normal tissue that was just changing In pregnancy. Hopefully the same for you. They were fabulous in my breast screening clinic. Let yourself be looked after. You're doing the right thing and chances are it will be fine x

JustNeedSomeCalm · 23/05/2023 11:00

Thanks for your message :) did your lump hurt or was it painless?

Milly16 · 23/05/2023 15:24

I had breast cancer. The lump was completely immobile.

oliveroses · 23/05/2023 22:00

So sorry to hear that @Milly16. Hope it's all clear now.

Mine was painless and I could wiggle it a bit from side to side - like you said it felt tethered but it did move a bit.

WeddingDespair · 23/05/2023 22:04

Mine was also painless but it didn't move.

Hello any update on your situation?? Having the same issue with a bump in my breast, OB said it was a lymph node, getting done an ultrasound to be on the safe side.

JustNeedSomeCalm · 10/11/2023 08:34

Hiya :) sorry you are going through this, too.
Thankfully, it did turn out to be benign raised lymph node and was harmless. The one under my arm went down, too. All very scary and I hope you are doing okay and managing to get though this rubbish time. X

How are you feeling right now? What symptoms were you having in your breast? I started feeling a weird feeling in my breast after my baby turned 2 months and barley took action when I got done my annual exam. My OB said that it was a lymph node and that it was normal because he said that it has to do something about the milk. Idk I didn’t understand. BTW I’m 31.

JustNeedSomeCalm · 10/11/2023 14:29

All gone and back to normal, thankfully. However I think they will flare up with any infections or being ill etc as I’m clearly quite reactive. I didn't have any weird feelings at all - literally nothing except the feeling of the really hard rock-like lump under my skin, no pain around it or anything which apparently is a classic sign of cancer and I therefore absolutely panicked. If you’re breast feeding then I imagine that has to cause some sort of sensation and could very well be down to that. I’ve had a few weird things pop up over pregnancy and can’t wait to go back to “normal”. X
