Really bad B.O since having a baby - could it be a hormone thing?

My DS is 14 months now and I have sweated like mad since having him, I was never like this before (honest)

It doesn´t matter how often I bathe or shower or how much deo I use nothing helps and its really quite smelly

I wonder if its hormone related (am still BF) and whether there´s a test to check if so. Can anyone shed any light?

Hi. It is hormonal. My son is now 3, but I remember very well that sweat while breatfeeding and I breastfed him till he was 2 years. I remember buying one of those natural crystal deodorant sticks, about 7 pounds. That solved the problem They last for ages. you just wet the tip before applying it.You will feel great.

I have this problem as well. If i don't put anti-perspirant on immediately after having a shower i get a bit whiffy.

i am still bfing my 13 month old.

mitchum - it really helped for me, so thought I would mention it. Although it didn't stop the sweating it stopped the smell and it really does work hard.

I had it too - I really ponged because I wouldn't use deoderant while breastfeeding.

I just didn't care that I ponged.

Oh I'm soooooo glad I'm not the only one. I have to use the super deo's like perspirex now. Nothing else works, it's really

I feel like I stink since having dd 5 months ago, and I'm a bit cheered to see I'm not the only one.

Did wonder if it was the breastfeeding hormones, as I definitely didn't smell like this before. Can't say I've noticed sweating more, I'm just more whiffy. Sometimes I'm sure I smell even straight after a bath or shower.

Think I might try the crystal as I'm a bit wary of proper anti perspirants while bf.

Or maybe I should be more like BroccoliSpears, and just not care. Doesn't seem to put dd off her her dinner.

Honestly go and buy it. They sell it in any Boots. The one I bought, comes in a stick with a transparent case. But it is completely natural so it won't hurt you or your baby. And the most important thing, it will make you thing normal again.

Gemzooks · 19/02/2008 22:16

I had the same, tbh I think I still smell worse than pre baby even though he's now 16 months and not bf any more. I think it's the combo of hormones plus things like the pure physical work of caring for a child all day, you just smell worse by the end of the day than if you'd been sat at a desk in an office! Also you just don't care so much! (I would once have died rather than think I smelt even a bit, and always used to have 2 showers every day)... I find LUSH deo chalky things OK. Otherwise I just use Weleda deo or talc and wash half way through the day! (grim!)

Yes.

Your breasts are modified sweat glands (yuck). They obviously still share some regulation.

Gemzooks · 19/02/2008 22:23

I must say I worry about putting 'real' deodorant on as well, although it doesn't necessarily cause breast cancer per se, there's so much nasty stuff in it..

SlightlyMad, very funny to think of breasts as massive sweat glands!
