We're mixed feeding and he threw up a whole bottle over me. Was dribbling an awful lot of it too and didn't take as much as usual. A bit disturbed dozing on top of me during evening. No fever, but never done this before. Sleeping on DW now. GP (over phone) suggests gastritis, keep an eye, don't worry, give water not milk next time. This sound right? Anyone else had this? A bit panicky. He's had cold so not een breathing well.

He's probably a bit bunged up. Try giving him less of a feed next time and let him have a rest before continuing. My ds was a pukey baby. If he starts to get sleepy, no wet nappies or fontinelle is sunken you need to get him checked.

Gastritis would probably cause dodgy poop. He probably had too much and his tummy couldn't cope. Phone NHS direct if you are concerned though.

Ok.

couple of questions.

Not breathing well, could you explain a bit. is breathing fast, gasping, or snuffly?

How old is your lo?

Is the vomit after formula or bm?

I would generally say that when they have a cold they can be sick because of swallowing mucus and needing to clear airways. So normal.

Personally I'd still bf but not formula maybe water instead of that. Only because bm they can comfort suckle without neccessarily overdoing it but with a bottle it is easier to take so might over fill little bellies?

How old is he?

chunkychips · 19/02/2008 00:18

both mine have done this from time to time when they've had a bad cold. They also fall asleep easier, which is a bit worrying if out of character, but normal. I would stick to bfing for a bit as easier to digest. If still worried tomorrow, take him along to doctor, but does sound like he's just a bit poorly with a cold.
