Am a bit scared/worried about dh - large lump

DH just called from the clinic where he had gone to see about a large lump on the inside of his knee. It had appeared a few months ago, they x-rayed, etc. didn't think it was anything to worry about. It went down for a while then came back this week. Today the nurse took some fluid from it, said it wasn't clear, seemed fatty and that they would schedule surgery to remove it. I know it's probably nothing but has anyone had anything similar?

How big is it, Jabberwocky?

I'm no medical expert but if it's described as "fatty" rather than "clear" then maybe that means the lump is a lipoma (lump made of fatty stuff) rather than a cyst or something (lump made of fluid).

I had a small lipoma on my BUM and panicked for weeks - it was getting bigger and annoying me so the GP took it off for me just at the surgery. Maybe it's just something as simple as that? Apparently they do come bigger than my one was.

Dh says about 2 teabags size. I had heard of lipomas and wondered if that might be it. Did yours get bigger rather quickly?

Mine was a fair bit smaller - maybe half a marble - and didn't grow all that quickly, but I did hear they vary quite a lot. The fact that the x-rays didn't show anything scary is hopefully good as well. Hope you find someone else on here who has had exactly the same thing and it was completely trivial Wink .

Lymphomas seem unlikely, my mom had that.

It sounds like fatty tissue of maybe fluid.
You can also get infection in the glands. Lymphomas dont usually go down they are just there.

Plus its un common in the knee so im told.

I guess I'm just overreacting a little because the nurse said to him, "Well, sometimes these are malignant, you know." I really thought that was uncalled for. I mean yes, any unknown lump or bump could be but still...

Was your mom's lymphoma or lipoma tammylove? I'm thinking dh's could be the latter since they are fatty tumors but it got big so fast. I just don't know if that's consistent with lipoma or not.
