On the pill and bleeding in between periods

i am on microgynon 30 and have been for years with no problem.

yesterday though i came on mid cycle and it is more than light spotting, it's a full on period.

i was on anti-biotics last month which said they would not interfere with the pill but i am now terrified i am preggers!

is this possible and if so the symptom would surely not be a period, would it?

can anyone reassure me or do i need to see a gp or do a test?

im very sorry to say, but who ever told u the antibiotics wouldnt affect your pill need shooting, i think u should do a testa nd if its negative then i would put the bleeding down to an interruption of the pill

it depends what antibiotics you are given as antibiotics do not affect my pill there is always a small risk but i have to take 2 a day which for me there is no risk but risk is very small

depending on what pill and what antibiotic normally short course with the pill your taking is very low risk as certain antibiotics do not break the pill down

if you asre worried go and see gp as although risks are low it can still happen

you just need to know what pill your on and what meds affect it and i was on this pill once with low risk but depends again what antibiotic you take

ooh, i can't remember the name of the anti-b!! it was not penicillin or similar as i am allergic and i only took this one for about 36 hours as i had horrendous side-effects and stoppped taking it. and me and dh are not rabbit like shaggers by any means!

it said on the information leaflet that it did not affect contraceptive pill...

but if i was pregnant, would i have a period/bleeding??

(i just know i am going to go to 24 hour tescos in the middle of the night for a preg test!)

it can be the antibiotic that causes bleeding if taking the pill

i really wouldnt worry yourself too much if it says it doesnt affect then i would be happy with that as for 3 yrs i have been safe as only certain pills get broken down with antibiotics

only time i play safe is if i miss one or take it too late and as you say we are not rabbit like shaggers either lol

could you have urine infection at all?it is common to have a light bleed i always did when on that pill but had to change to cerrazzette as my body rejected it in the end

i wouldnt put pregnancy down as period bleeding light spotting and bleeding but not full on bleeding i think your pill has just been interrupted which can happen if taken antibiotics

thanks bubblagirl, that sounds like a more rational explaination than what i have been thinking!

i will just see what happens next month maybe, and if the same thing happens then go and see my gp (and just hope my tummy gets no bigger in between times!)
