Burning pain sensation left side of stomach

On and off over the last week I've had stomach ache mainly caused by wind.
Today I've had a burning sensation in my upper stomach and left side. I've had very mild pain also. The burning and pains seem to flare up then I have wind. My stomach is gurgling and just feels off.

I have had an excessive weekend alcohol wise and my anxiety is starting to kick off that it's my pancreas. I'm trying to talk myself down I know it could be IBS but I'm beginning to feel anxious about it.

I've had my bowels open today, I'm also bloated, and have been eating and drinking ok.

I know MN can't give me a definitive answer and I probably need to see my GP.

I think it is excess gas causing the problem I've just laid down on my left side and the noise in my stomach and the wind that followed was quite horrific.

Mine is the same but I haven't had alcohol. I have had stress and spicy foods which I think causes mine. Also if I eat too much bread.
I had very painful trapped wind last night

Thankyou for your reply. Whatever goes on with me goes on for days at a time. I have been having wind issues for sometime. I've been to the toilet normally this morning but my stomach still feels gurgly and just not quite right.

Sometimes it will happen due to consuming more carbohydrate foods in the night or excessive gases present in your stomach. If you have severe pain in your stomach, please seek your doctor advice.

Bluemat · 09/05/2023 10:39

The pain wasn't severe and it seems better today than yesterday was.

You have probably got an inflamed pancreas.

Drink litres of water, eat nonfatty/ptocessed food for 2 or 3 days. Should calm down. Do not eat much at all.

NO alcohol at all. Do not smoke.

The fact youare now goingto the loo normally and have not been sick means you are probably ok.

Not a doctor but have had acute pancreatitis. Your symptoms sound eactly like mine but are getting better hopefully.

Bluemat · 09/05/2023 10:55

I've not eaten yet even though im starving. Im drinking water and have a salad for lunch and yogurt.
I can't get a GP appointment at the moment so hopefully whatever was going on will continue to settle.

I'm giving up alcohol. I drink far too much in my opinion. After a couple of months of stress and upset my intake is too much.

Exactly the same as me! In hospital you will get 3 days of basically no food and rehydrated.

I have a feeling you will be fine xxx By now you would know if not.

A hot bath is good for a poorly pancreas.

Hopefully it will continue to settle, I'm less windy today and the burning sensation and twinges seem to have stopped 🤞 I would have thought of anything it would have gotten worse by now.

You would be in agony by now. But your pancreas was complaining, I think! Wind is a sure sign along with the rest. You would be in a terrible way.

You will be all good. Hope your stress relieves x

Its made me realise I need to re assess my diet and sort myself out. I need to take better care of myself, im going to try to get a doctors appointment as I've had stomach issues on and off for a little while now.
Wind, bloating, and toilet troubles have bothered me for a while.

Could be gastroenteritis, that's exactly how mine started. See your GP, ask for H Pylori test just to eliminate the presence of hy pylori bacteria in the stomach which presents as you describe and possibly Ulcer.

Bluemat · 09/05/2023 15:59

I was treated for H. Pylori a couple of years ago. And I don't think you can get it twice? 🤔

I was also wondering if it was gastritis but I get so anxious about things I work my self up then the stomach issues don't improve!

Look after yourself for a week or two. I am sure it will all calm down.🍀

WilsonMilson · 10/05/2023 19:21

Sounds like gastritis, I have it too right now and it’s been a grim couple of weeks. I seem to flare every so often. Have also had h pylori in the past which I treated naturally (mastic gum, all the probiotics you can imagine etc ) as I’m allergic to quite a few antibiotics so was difficult to do the conventional treatment. Has been fine for over a year so thought I’d cracked it, but think it’s come back to haunt me.

Does not sound anything like pancreatitis - you’d be in absolute agony and getting worse, not better.

Bluemat · 10/05/2023 19:36

Stomach feels much better now although I still have awful wind! Especially after eating. Today I've had acid reflux all day which seems to be triggered by drinking lots of water.!
