Haven't taken it myself, but many find it effective, BUT it interacts with some drugs, including the contraceptive pill, so ask your pharmacist before you take any! It works in the same way as MAOI antidepressants and should therefore be treated with respect as should all herbal remedies.
Here endeth the lecture.
Hope it helps, by the way.

you cant take it while pregnant or breastfeeding and as with all homeopathy avoid mint while taking it (i dont know why). for me it was effective immediately although i bought a special kind that is super strong, it may take up to 2 months as far as i understood. drink lots of water as that helps with or without the st johns wort

Yes it works, but you have to take it religiously, and I found it's a few weeks before you really feel a difference. Dosage matters too - I take a 300mg strength capsule twice a day and 3 times a day the week before my period. Just checking, you're not breastfeeding are you? St J's is not recommended for b'feeders.

Worked for me too.

not bf or pregnant!

will take one tablet 300mg strength once a day, this is what it says on the box? (boots own??)

It's as effective as the SSRI group of antidepressants in mild to moderate depression if taken regularly but you need to take it for probably 4-6 months. It does have significant interactions with many prescription medications so always tell your doctor if he/she is going to prescribe.
And please seek help if you need it.....don't struggle alone.

my doctor gave me one that is 600mg with slow release (like taking two 300mg a day). i found it helped wonderfully but then i had to stop due to pregnancy. after that got too depressed and had to take real ADs since the st johns wort didn't help anymore ;(
