Have just had my reminder to get a smear test. We are ttc, and have been for several months now. Does anyone know if you can or should have a smear if you are pg (wishful thinking, but you never know, I might be)

i do not think it is recommended. i had a letter through when i was pg about a smear and had to wait til after birth.

you can have one when pregnant up to a certain time, but usually they will delay it unless you have a history of problems or it's a follow up to colposcopy or something. Phone them and mention it. They will advise you.

my smear was due when i was ttc, i told the doctor that its possible i might actually be pregnant and she went ahead anyway

I had a smear done when I had just concieved, didn't know at the time, but it didn't cause any problems.

Ah, so it doesn't sound like I absolutely have to put it off, and I'd rather keep up to date with them so I'll phone our docs and see what they advise. Many thanks.

I did not have mine when pg - mw said no - but to wait until at least 3 months after.
