Adult Tonsillectomy day 6

I had a tonsillectomy last week. One side seems to be healing ok but the other side is just as painful. There is some bleeding (just like a tiny pocket of blood) on that side, not dripping down my throat and I’m spitting clear fluid. Went to a&e and ENT dr isn’t concerned as it’s not bad. Got antibiotics incase of infection and hydrogen peroxide mouthwash. It seems to get a little better but then by the end of the day it’s back to looking red again. Anyone experienced this before after a tonsillectomy? The pain is awful on that side!!

It was the worst pain I'd ever had for at least 2 weeks. I sympathise with you.

Tonsillectomy as an adult is notoriously painful. Take regular painkillers

Did anyone use the hydrogen peroxide mouthwash to gargle? If so how many times a day did you use it? The right side feels not too sore but the left side feels just as raw as it did at the start.

@Mumma anything you did that helped? I’m a big big worrier and I just keep thinking it’s not healing well but im guessing it’s just time? Im not a very patient patient! 🙈

I was given diclafenac, which is some kind of strong anti inflammatory... that really helped
Its horrible. Even breathing hurt i do really feel for you. On the plus side, i haven't had a sore throat in 15 years ! Xx
