Worried about mum's dermatology referral

I'm on a bit of an anxiety spiral about my mum. She has a big white wart she's been trying to treat with Bazuka for a couple of years but it hasn't budged. She mentioned it to the GP while there for something else and he put her on the 2ww pathway so she's having photos taken at dermatology next week. She says it's obviously fine and in the old days they would have just freezed it off, and this appointment is a big hassle for nothing. But I'm thinking why would they get her an urgent referral just for a wart? I'm worrying myself silly over it, I feel sick.

You're worried it's skin cancer?

Please don't. It's almost certainly a wart and if it is skin cancer, it's not spread, has it?

Your GP is being cautious and diligent, and rightly so
Honestly, try not to fret

Yes worried about skin cancer. 2ww's are so scary because the doctor thinks there's a possibility it's cancer, or it meets some criteria that means it needs to be checked in case it's cancer. My mum herself isn't worried at all though! I'm the one with a health anxiety problem so this is magnified for me.

My mum has just been through exactly this with some scabby thing on her face. Dermatologist saw her within a week or two and took one look and said it's fine. They did take a scraping for biopsy but all is fine. Try not to worry!
