What is best food for DD after she has been sick?

DD has just got over a horrible tummy bug and hasn't been eating for the last 4 days.
She had a tiny portion of rice and chicken yesterday, but didn't seem too keen.
What can I give her to get her appetite going again?

Bananas are really good on a sore stomach. Very filling and easy to go down (and, if you have to throw them back up, they're not painful).

Plain white rice is good. So is plain white toast, and apples or apple juice.

Don't expect her to eat much at a time, it takes a while for things to start working properly again.

Farley's rusks 'cos if she brings those up again they don't taste too bad Sad

Start with plain potato or plain biscuits (rich tea is good) or toast without butter but you can put on a bit of jam or honey or marmite. Go a day on just that. Only give her water or watered juice or weak squash to drink. I know it sounds boring, but this is all she will want.

The next day, you could try a bit more of the same or perhaps a bit of carrot or some gravy on the potato, something like that. Jelly is good too.

Avoid milk, dairy produce, fruit and too many veg until day three and then only introduce slowly. Water milk down to begin with.

Hoe that helps. I have been where you are many times!

Danish crispbakes (the round, toast-like biscuits) are good and bland. You could add a little marmite or similar to taste. Or how about a boiled egg and toast soldiers. That way she is getting something in addition to the toast.

at the risk of sounding terribley wicked, flat coke is very very good for settling the stomach and getting sugars and salts back in to the system, just as good as diarolyte and it's recommended for travellers in the tropics if they get sick.

Just don't put it in her bottle while you are choosing your burberry car seat covers in argos Wink

Bloody right I do.

Although K-Mart is a pretty good, it's not catalogue based with those little pens.

I really miss Boots. And today I thought fondly of Tesco

I was impressed by Woolworths when I was in Aus. Completely different to Woolies back here.
Don't they have Safeways? Coles is another I recall.

Safeways is no longer, Coles is OK, it's true.
