Odd crawling : gentle prodding sensation in back - TALK ME DOWN!

Been feeling this for past few days. Sometimes an odd crawling sensation under my skin on my back or sometimes it's as if someone is gently but firmly pressing a hand onto my back. No pain or discomfort at all or other symptoms. Don't feel it lying down just when I'm upright.

Of course Google is telling me worst case scenario but could it be something harmless like a trapped nerve which may sort itself? Please say it can Confused

Is there any possibility that you are pregnant?

What is the worst case scenario that you have read about?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 29/03/2023 22:27

Oh god I'd not considered that. Really? How would that be a symptom?

WCS - spine tumour or MS.
Now adding pregnant to the list Confused

I get that feeling when I'm putting on weight. It's like it's the fat cells popping open!! I'm a bit of a yo-yo dieter- I lose weight very successfully on IF but I stress binge eat and it's been a stressful couple of years so I am beginning to recognise the signs of putting on weight again

I suggest it is indigestion or gastritis relating to your stomach.
I had this before I took tablets to reduce stomach acid. It would be more noticeable when my stomach was empty. As you say, like someone nudging you between the shoulder blades or a bit below that. That and a slight pain left side just under the ribs.

I had this in my thigh once, like an odd pressing sensation that came and went. It felt like it was neurological. I had it for months. Eventually I went to see my doctor who was dismissive and said unless it was persistent it was nothing to worry about. And a few weeks later I stopped noticing it.
It does sound like you have a nervy thing going out that will hopefully just resolve itself.

Is it one sided? I had the crawling sensation with shingles!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 30/03/2023 07:04

Thanks all.

Weight gain - I have started lifting more at the gym including a bat on my shoulders for squats etc ... maybe it's something to do with muscle mending ? I noticed it more yesterday after the gym

Indigestion - maybe although it's lower than you describe but I'm hoping it's something as benign as that!

Shingles - ahhh! That also came up on a Google. I'm going to look into a bit more thanks.

See I'm thinking it's likely to be something like this ... I often get things like this in other areas which come and go (had a flickering nerve to n one eye last year which touch wood I've not felt for a few months).
